Class Dojo: "Class Dojo is a school communication platform that teachers, students, and families use every day to build close-knit communities by sharing what's being learned in the classroom home through photos, videos, and messages" (source: classdojo.com/about/)
This class will use Class Dojo software for recording class participation points, student's performance in class, and for communicating with parents through Class Dojo messages feature. For further details please visit Class Dojo website (blue button above).
Parents and students will receive an invitation with login instructions via email. Therefore, parents need to make sure their contact information is accurate in Power School. In addition, parents will fill out a Google form where they will write their contact information. Students will receive their invite via their CMS email.
Class participation points:
=> Students start the quarter with 50 points (50%) and they will need to accumulate 50 more points in order to get a 100% (100 points).
=> Every student has the same opportunities to get participation points (it is not always the same kids participating).
=> Students can get points in different categories that you can check online.
=> Students are encourage to participate and help others. If a kid does not know the answer but wants to try, he/she will get a persistence point and the other kid that explains and helps him/her will get a "helping others" point.
=> "Needs work" deduction points: Points will be deducted according to different categories (disrespect, no homework, off task, talking out of turn, unauthorized use of cellphone). Parents can check this categories online as well.
*** Class participation points will be a rehearse grade at the end of each quarter. Therefore, it is important that students follow directions, help each other, and participate everyday in class ***
*It is highly recommended that parents create their Class Dojo account and keep connected.
